Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has stated that the government is open to working with all leaders, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, in pursuit of national unity and equal development.

Kindiki said the government’s priority is to ensure an inclusive growth where all leaders work together regardless of political or regional affiliations for the benefit of the country.

Speaking at his home in Irunduni, Tharaka Nithi County when he engaged grassroots leaders and residents from Kitui County, Kindiki said their agenda is to deliver for all Kenyans without discrimination.

“The politics of dividing Kenyans, preaching hatred and division has no place in Kenya. The government has been elected to serve all Kenyans in spite of how they voted. Our Constitution protects all Kenyans against discrimination of any form,” he noted.

The DP reaffirmed the government’s stand against ethnic and divisive politics, saying Kenya cannot afford to be held back by outdated, polarising ideologies.

“The politics of hatred and exclusion have no place in modern Kenya. We were elected to serve all, not a section of the population,” he added.

Kindiki also dismissed the opposition’s attempts to regionalise development based on historical voting patterns, insisting that all 47 counties deserve equal attention.

He said the government will continue investing across the country to build a more united and prosperous nation.

In line with this objective, the DP highlighted several multi-billion-shilling development projects going on in Kitui plus those in the pipeline.

They include the construction of Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui town at Sh800 million and upgrading of Ithookwe Airstrip at Sh150 million in readiness for Mashujaa Day Celebrations later this month.

Further, Kitui town has received a major facelift through re-carpeting of roads to elevate its status ahead of the celebrations on October 20.

“We are on course to build a better Kenya, a country without any form of discrimination. All the 47 counties must develop because they deserve development. They are part of Kenya and I will make sure that is realized,” he declared.

Kitui is one of the highest beneficiaries of the last-mile connectivity after it was allocated Sh2.1 billion targeting connection of an additional 16,000 households.

Construction of affordable housing projects and hostels is ongoing in Kitui town, South Eastern Kenya University, all KMTC campuses and technical institutes in the area among them Tseikuru and Mwingi TTIs.

Also 12 modern markets are coming up in Kisasi, Zombe, Ikutha, Nuu, Mwingi among others.

Stalled roads have been revived including Kwa Vonza-Ikutha, Zombe-Kyuluni Roads among others which the government has already issued tenders.

Enziu Bridge in Mwingi is also being hastened, DP promising to inspect its progress in the coming days.

“We will continue working with Kitui leaders to speed up development. I will be pushing for development in Kitui and I will not let you down,” he pledged.

With SHA registration low in the County, now at 400, 000 against a target of 1.1 million, Kindiki urged the grassroots leaders to heighten efforts to enroll more residents for them to get access to health services under Taifa Care.
