The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued its weekly weather forecast for the period between September 30 and October 6, 2025, indicating that most parts of the country are likely to experience sunny and dry conditions.

However, rainfall is expected in several regions, particularly the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and parts of North-western Kenya. Isolated heavy rainfall events may occur in some areas within these zones.

Pockets of rainfall are expected in specific regions, with isolated heavy showers likely in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and North-western Kenya.

According to the detailed regional forecast, counties in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley—including Kakamega, Bungoma, Kericho, Trans Nzoia, and Uasin Gishu—are likely to receive morning rains in a few places.

In North-western Kenya, covering Turkana and Samburu counties, morning rains and scattered afternoon and night thunderstorms are likely to occur in a few places. Meanwhile, the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, and Nairobi, these areas will experience occasional morning cloudiness followed by sunny intervals.

Afternoon showers are expected in a few areas during the first half of the forecast period, increasing to several places later in the week. Nights will be partly cloudy, with a chance of showers in isolated areas.

"In contrast, North-eastern and South-eastern lowland regions, including Marsabit, Mandera, Garissa, Kitui, and Machakos are expected to remain largely dry, though isolated showers may develop in select areas during the latter half of the week," the Department stated.

Coastal counties, including Mombasa, Kilifi, and Lamu, will see sunny intervals, with chances of morning showers in a few locations.

Daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C are anticipated in much of the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya. Night-time temperatures may drop below 10°C in parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.

A review of the previous week, September 22–28, showed that rainfall was recorded in a few counties, notably Bungoma, Kakamega, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, and Nyandarua.

Daytime temperatures increased across the country, with only Suba, Mandera, and Marsabit recording slight warming. Night-time temperatures rose in Kericho, Kisumu, and Kakamega, while Laikipia, Voi, and Kitui experienced a drop.

The department advises residents in rainfall-prone areas to remain alert for possible localized flooding and to monitor updates through official channels.
