The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has reminded all transporters conveying transit goods and other goods under customs control to renew their licenses before the end of the year.

The authority said that current licenses will expire on December 31, 2025, and applicants must submit their renewal requests by October 31, 2025.

In a public notice issued on Monday, KRA said the requirements are anchored in the Section 244 of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004, and Regulations 104 and 210 of the East African Community Customs Management Regulations, 2010.

“Deadline Alert! Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) reminds all Transporters conveying Transit Goods (C28) and Other Goods under Customs Control (C40) that their licenses will expire on 31st December 2025. Renewal deadline is on October 31, 2025. Transporters are therefore required to submit their applications for renewal of their licenses for the year 2026,” the notice read.

The authority outlined mandatory conditions that applicants must meet, including a copy of the motor vehicle logbook, a valid insurance certificate and a Comesa Yellow Card for foreign vehicles.

KRA further stated that transporters should have a duly filled application form signed and stamped by a Customs Officer.

According to KRA, applications can be submitted through Customs regional offices in Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, and at Times Tower in Nairobi.

The successful applicant will be required to pay the licence fee in Kenyan shillings equivalent to USD 200 per licence.

The tax authority emphasised that transporters should make their submissions within the set timelines to avoid delays or interruptions in operations.

For further clarification, applicants have been advised to contact the Commissioner for Customs and Border Control on telephone numbers 020 4 999 999 or 0711 099 099, or via email at [[email protected]](mailto: [email protected]).

The tax Authority further urged transporters to log into its online platform, iTax, using their ID number for licence-related services.
