Detectives are investigating the murder of a man whose body was discovered on a roadside in the Tatu City area of Kiambu County.

The body, found on Saturday by security guards on patrol, appeared to have been dumped at the scene. Police said the victim’s hands had been tied behind his back with a piece of cloth and he had a deep cut on the left side of his chin.

Investigators believe the man, thought to be about 40 years old, was killed elsewhere, noting there were no signs of a struggle at the spot. The body was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy and identification as investigations continue.

In a separate incident in Mikuyuni, Marafa, Kilifi County, the body of 75-year-old Jumwa Mujaji was found outside her home in what police described as a brutal attack.

The elderly woman had two deep cuts on the right side of her head, and both palms had been severed. Police confirmed she lived alone and said the motive for the killing was not immediately clear.

Her death adds to a growing list of attacks targeting older residents in Kilifi, many of which are suspected to be linked to land disputes. Authorities say such killings have become an alarming trend in the region despite ongoing campaigns to address the violence.

Elsewhere, police in Naivasha, Nakuru County, are investigating the death of Andrew Ng’ang’a, 55, whose body was found inside his home. Unlike the other cases, the body had no visible injuries. It has since been taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy to establish the cause of death.

Police say murder cases are on the rise nationally, with up to eight incidents being reported daily. Investigations are ongoing as security agencies work to contain the surge.
