A multi-agency team has intensified its efforts to combat illicit alcohol, narcotic drugs, and illegal gambling in Kang’ethia village, following a successful operation conducted today.
The operation, which involved officers from the National Police Service (NPS) based at Mulika Police Station and National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), resulted in the arrest of one person.
Authorities recovered an unlicensed alcoholic brew, along with materials used in its production.
Police stated that the crackdown is part of a sustained campaign to address rising cases of substance abuse and unregulated gambling in both rural and urban areas, which have been linked to public safety and health concerns.
In a statement, the NPS praised the joint operation, describing it as a demonstration of effective collaboration between law enforcement and administrative agencies.
The service commended the officers involved for their dedication to addressing the challenges posed by illicit brews and drugs.
“We will continue to work with our partners and communities to ensure that such illegal activities are eradicated,” the NPS said.
The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to illicit brewing, narcotics, or gambling.
Reports can be made at the nearest police station or through toll-free hotlines: 999, 911, 112, 0800 722 203, or via WhatsApp on 0709 570 000.
Security agencies have maintained that tackling illicit brews remains a top priority, particularly in regions where such substances have been associated with family breakdowns, school dropouts, loss of productivity, and preventable deaths.
Community leaders have repeatedly called for coordinated efforts to dismantle illegal brewing networks, which often operate in secrecy and pose risks to consumers through unsafe products.
Authorities have pledged to intensify similar operations across the region to safeguard public health and promote community safety.
