
In a significant anti-narcotics operation, police in Nyandarua County have arrested two suspects believed to be involved in drug trafficking.
The operation took place on Wednesday at Soko Mjinga along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway.
Acting on intelligence, officers intercepted a black Nissan X-Trail, which raised suspicion due to its irregular movements. The vehicle had two occupants on board.
The vehicle was escorted the car to Magumu Police Station for further inspection.
The officers conducted a thorough search and recovered several sacks filled with a dry, green substance believed to be narcotic drugs.
"Upon a thorough search, officers recovered multiple sacks of the suspected narcotics," the police statement said.
The two suspects were immediately taken into custody and are currently awaiting further police action, including possible charges related to drug possession and trafficking.
"The National Police Service remains steadfast in its commitment to combating the trade in narcotic drugs and calls on the public to continue supporting its operations by providing information."
The police, in collaboration with Nacada have intensified the war on drugs and illicit brews across the country.
On September 9, 2025, officers from Mtwapa Police Station in Kilifi County conducted an intelligence-led operation targeting drug traffickers and muggers in Kipapuro and Mzambarauni, on the outskirts of Mtwapa town.
During the crackdown, four suspects were arrested, and police recovered 55 rolls of cannabis.
The suspects were taken to Mtwapa Police Station and the seized cannabis was secured at the same facility.
The National Police Service has commended the swift response of its officers and reiterated its ongoing commitment to dismantling drug networks operating within the country.
Authorities are also appealing to the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely information to help curb the spread of illegal drugs.

The operations in Nyandarua and Kilifi highlight ongoing
efforts to clamp down on drug cartels and dismantle networks that have long exploited
vulnerable communities across Kenya.
