

Police in Kilungu Sub-County, Makueni County, are investigating the death of a 43-year-old man who was found hanging inside his home in Kalongo village on the night of September 9, 2025.
According to a police report, Assistant Chief Johnes Musa Donald said the deceased, identified as Mutie Muleva Seko, was last seen on Thursday, September 4, at around 1:00 pm, heading to his homestead from Kalongo market.
The report stated that his father, Muleva Seko, 70, discovered the body after noticing a foul smell around 6:30 pm on September 9.
“He smelt a bad smell emanating from the said house and upon checking around, he saw the door… partially opened and on peeping inside he saw him hanging,” the report read.
Police officers from Nunguni Police Post and DCI Kilungu visited the scene and found the deceased hanging from the roof of his one-bedroom house with a plastic line around his neck.
No suicide note was found, and the body, which had started decomposing, was taken to Kilungu Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem. The case remains under investigation.
In a separate but similarly tragic incident, police in Nzaui Sub-County are investigating the death of 58-year-old Kennedy Ngeta, who was found dead by suicide at his home in Mikooni village on the same night.
According to a police report, Jacqueline Ngeta returned home from Matiliku market at about 7:30 pm when her brother, Mulunje Ngeta, informed her of the incident.
Police officers led by the Officer Commanding Station and the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer visited the scene and confirmed that Ngeta had hanged himself on the truss inside his bedroom using a manilla rope.
“He had committed suicide by hanging himself on the truss inside his bedroom using a manilla rope,” the report stated.
The body was moved to Kilome Funeral Home awaiting autopsy. No suicide note was recovered.
Authorities have classified the case as pending under inquiry and are continuing investigations.
