Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu has said that the Judiciary is committed to promoting a culture of wellness, teamwork and integrity among its Judges, Judicial Officers and staff to enhance delivery of service.

Speaking during the opening of the Judiciary sports day, held under the theme,’ Fitness for Justice: Balancing Wellness, Integrity and Service’, the Deputy Chief called on her colleagues to be true servants of justice.

She also noted that it is through an inspired team of judges, magistrates and staff that the Judiciary will demonstrate commitment to excellence in the delivery of justice.

“We will achieve excellence in our courts and tribunals only when judges, magistrates and staff pull together with one spirit and one purpose,” she explained.

"While our roles may differ, our purpose is shared: social transformation through access to justice,” the DCJ added.

DCJ Mwilu has said that the two days during which the institution comes together in a celebration of the vibrant talent and culture will go a long way towards strengthening efforts and shared purpose in enabling access to justice for all Kenyans.

"Teamwork begins by building trust, and the best way to build trust is by spending time together. Every race won, every match played, is a product of training, resilience, and determination. Let us reflect this in our daily duties; it is the quiet persistence, the commitment to detail, and the courage to do the right thing that marks us out as true servants of justice," DCJ Mwilu said.

She called on the Judiciary family to carry forward the spirit of unity and determination beyond the Sports Day. “Together we can inspire confidence in the justice system and leave a legacy of integrity, service, and teamwork,”.

The Judiciary Sports Day is the only forum that brings together representatives from all cadres of the institution from across the country, to bond and build a strong team while showcasing sports, culture and talent with a view to enhancing service delivery.
