Man found dead, finger chopped in Kilgoris Town

Detectives are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found lying on the roadside with his middle finger chopped off in Kilgoris Town, Kajiado County.

The body of Linus Lateya, 30, was found lying on the road in a pool of blood about 40 meters from his house.

Police said they found a rungu tied around his waist, and there was no struggle at the scene, indicating he was killed elsewhere and the body dumped there.

The motive of the murder was not immediately known, police said of the September 9, 2025, incident.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

And a man was buried alive after a heap of sand he was harvesting collapsed on him in the Mua area, Machakos County.

Police said the incident affected one Mwanzia Muthama, 20.

The man was with a loader when the incident happened, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Elsewhere, a 51-year-old woman was found dead after she had collapsed outside her house in Narumoru, Nyeri County.

Police said Beatrice Wambui Waigwa was a tour guide in the Mt Kenya National Park at the time of her sudden death. She collapsed and died as she walked to her house from the toilet.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Meanwhile, police are investigating an incident where a businessman was shot and injured in a robbery in Embu Town on Sunday morning.

The victim told police he was walking home from his premises when he was confronted by gunmen who were in a car.

The gang then shot him in the left thigh as they robbed him of his laptop, which also had Sh50,000 from his businesses.

The gang later jumped back into their car and drove off to an unknown destination.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition, police said.

Police said they are hunting for the suspects behind the shooting. This comes amid concerns of rising crime in the area in general.
