

President William Ruto has mourned
the father of Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungw’ah, describing him as an “industrious
and astute businessman”.
According to a statement from the
office of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mzee Isaac Ngugi passed away “peacefully
in his sleep” at his home in Kikuyu on Thursday.
“Our heartfelt condolences to the
family and friends for the passing of Mzee Isaac Ngugi, the father of Kimani
Ichung’wah,” Ruto said.
The President noted that the man was
among the founders of Kikuyu Town.
“Mzee touched many lives through his many
transformative initiatives that supported the vulnerable. His legacy will live
on. Rest In Peace, Mzee.”
Mzee Isaac was aged 105.
His passing away came after a week-long hospitalisation at
Karen Hospital, where he was discharged last week.
The family has since initiated funeral arrangements.
The statement from the Speaker’s office urged MPs to pay
their condolences to the family starting Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Other details, including the Requiem Mass and interment date
for the late Mzee Isaac, will follow shortly.
Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen also joined in condoling with
the family.
“I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the family of
my dear friend Kimani Ichung’wah, the Leader of Majority in the National
Assembly, following the passing of his father, Mzee Isaac Ichung'wah Ngugi,” he
said.
