Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo and former nominated
Senator Gloria Orwoba have been the talk of town for the better part of
Tuesday.
It all started when Orwoba in an interview on Obinna TV said
that Omollo earned his place in President William Ruto’s administration.
She said that the now PS did a great job during campaigns
and that his reports and strategies made it easy for the UDA team to make
critical decisions.
Orwoba claimed that they worked closely and that she
advocated for Omollo when the list of PS appointments was being finalised
“He did a good job, people who don't know him ask who's this
guy but he worked for his position in the sense that the job that he did, of
all the people in my team no one else could hve done it the way he did it and
the president trusted him then and even when the President would call to ask
about him I'd say he is doing a good job,” she said.
The former senator also claimed that the PS no longer picks
her calls.
Following her remarks, Kenyans on X made known their views
over Orwoba’s remarks even as some supported her sentiments and others
criticised what she had said.
Here is what they
said;
“It’s disheartening to
see Gloria Orwoba criticized simply for recognizing the undeniable excellence
of PS Raymond Omollo. Her remarks about his outstanding performance and
exceptional work ethic in Nyanza are grounded in fact, not opinion,” said
Itsburberry.
“I do not like It when
you people attack Gloria Orwoba for no reason especially because she has
mentioned PS Raymond Omollo. She has said during elections he worked close to
perfection for WSR in Nyanza. She has said no one in Nyanza team for WSR put in
as much effort and was as unproblematic to work with including 'Every Thursday
brief to her majesty'. She said she has no personal problem with the gentleman
from Kanyipir,” Rita Oyier said.
"Gloria Orwoba
once described PS Raymond Omollo as calm, reliable, and a top performer under
pressure. Her reversal today ignores her past appreciation of his leadership
and the professional integrity he continues to uphold," Everlyn254
said.
Jane Kyalo noted, "I
have seen an Ex Nominated senator: Gloria Orwoba pulling PS Dr. Raymond Omollo,
in her sob story - most of which I can say are her own doing. I mean; it's good
that she's acknowledging how good he is at what he does, but in my opinion,
this won't get her sympathy from the people she looked down on and/or insulted
when she was in power."
"Gloria Orwoba
may have worked closely with PS Raymond Omollo during the elections, but the
truth is his rise speaks for itself. From a man who couldn’t even access Karen
during the petition days to now being one of the most powerful, trusted, and
hardworking PSs in government, Raymond earned his place through results, focus,
and professionalism, not favours," Peter Kariuki said.
"Exactly. PS
Raymond Omollo earned his place through hard work, results, and
professionalism. Even when some tried to undermine him, his performance spoke
louder, he delivered smoothly, efficiently, and without drama. Smart, focused,
and reliable, Raymond remains one of the best to work with," Bianca
Naomi said.
Mucomba Macharia added, "PS Raymond Omollo's strategic brilliance in Nyanza speaks volumes -
structured coordination, precision execution, consistent delivery. Merit-based
leadership at its finest under President Ruto's administration!"
