President William Ruto has called on leaders across the political divide to stand together in the journey to transform and develop Kenya.
The President emphasised that unity, focus, and commitment are essential to achieving the country’s full potential.
Speaking during a Sunday service at St Peter’s ACK Cathedral in Siaya County, the President appealed to Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), Members of Parliament, governors, and other leaders to rise above partisanship and work collectively toward national progress.
“What stands between Kenya and greatness is focused, patriotic, and courageous leadership,” Ruto said.
He stated that it is the responsibility of the country’s leadership to change Kenya’s destiny, noting that the nation is well-endowed with both resources and sound plans.
“We are citizens of a great nation called Kenya, and it is our responsibility — it is up to us — to change the destiny of this nation,” he said.
Ruto reiterated his commitment to national unity, pointing to his administration’s inclusion of opposition figures as a deliberate effort to build a broad-based government.
“What we have done is to bring people together. We have assembled a broad-based government because it is necessary for the unity of the nation,” he explained.
The President stressed that meaningful development can only be achieved when leaders work together with a shared vision, accountability, and determination.
“I am asking MCAs, governors, MPs, and all leaders to
understand that the destiny of the nation is going to be dictated by what we do, the plan we execute, the passion we put into our work, and the commitment and
accountability that accompany it.”
He dismissed the notion that Kenya lacks the resources or plans required for transformation, urging leaders to stay focused and united.
“That is why we must stand together and stay focused,” he emphasised.
Among those present at the service were Siaya Governor James Orengo, MPs Samuel Atandi (Alego Usonga), Tindi Mwale (Butere), and Otiende Amollo (Rarieda), as well as Cabinet Secretaries John Mbadi (National Treasury) and Opiyo Wandayi (Energy).
