Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has announced his intentions to take a one-year break from church-related activities to focus entirely on empowerment programmes, especially in Kapseret.

Speaking during a recent empowerment forum, Sudi emphasised that the move is aimed at positively impacting the lives of young people, mothers, and the elderly.

He criticised the church, noting that while some members “have been making a lot of noise,” he has chosen to pause church-related activities for a year to focus exclusively on empowerment programmes in Kapseret.

“I want to promise you, those in church have been making a lot of noise. I have halted church-related activities for a whole year and will be doing empowerment only. And I am not doing empowerment anywhere else but Kapseret first, for the whole of next year,” he said.

Sudi said the decision was born out of a desire to make tangible changes in his community.

He urged his critics to prioritise hard work and dedication, emphasising that personal growth and meaningful community impact come through action.

“You know, when someone comes at you shouting… someone like me, I started working at 15. Then you come and shout at me, telling me not to wear a watch, not to wear shoes, I don’t know what else.

Instead of appreciating where someone started and how far they’ve come, you focus on criticising instead of looking for ways to contribute. So I want to encourage you—no one should condemn you for the work you are doing,” Sudi said.

He also addressed the issue of youth criticism, especially on social media.

Sudi claimed that many young people are often distracted by social media platforms such as TikTok and Facebook, failing to take the initiative in productive endeavors.

“Those young people you keep hearing talking don’t want to work. They are just on TikTok, Facebook, but if they dedicate themselves and work, everyone must work for them to eat,” he remarked.
