It was a moment of glittering joy, heartfelt gratitude, and
family pride as President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni
celebrated the silver jubilee of their daughter, Natasha Karugire’s, marriage
to prominent lawyer and businessman Edwin Karugire.
The occasion, marking 25 years of marital union, brought together family, friends, and dignitaries in a celebration soaked in love, legacy, and divine thanksgiving.
In a warm statement released on Sunday, the President struck a rare personal note, praising God for blessing the couple with a lasting union.
“We praised God for joining them together, for keeping them together and for blessing them with children and health,” Museveni said.
“We commend them on this journey of marriage and wish them God’s continued blessings.”

Natasha, an accomplished filmmaker and author, and Edwin, a senior partner at Kiryowa Karugire Advocates, tied the knot in the year 2000.
Their union has grown under the spotlight of national prominence but remains, by all appearances, deeply grounded in shared values and faith.

Natasha has made her mark in Ugandan cultural circles through her work on historical documentaries, most notably “27 Guns”, a cinematic tribute to the National Resistance Army’s bush war, a pivotal moment in Uganda’s modern history.
Karugire, on the other hand, is one of Uganda’s most respected legal minds, often representing high-profile clients and contributing to the country’s corporate legal framework.
