Gunmen kill man in Isiolo home attack

Detectives are investigating the murder of a 53-year-old man in a house in Kina, Garbatula, Isiolo County.

Police said one Erick Mutembei Njagi, 53, was shot and killed by four gunmen who were riding on a motorcycle.

The gang raided Madoyaka area and targeted the deceased in his house, shooting him multiple times before escaping.

Witnesses said the assailants were also armed with a hammer and had demanded money from the deceased, who was a local construction worker in the area.

This prompted a confrontation that saw him shot in the chest multiple times.

Other people who were in the house escaped in the Saturday morning incident, police said.

The assailants escaped on their motorcycles, and no arrests have been made so far.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

Elsewhere in the Kendubay area, Homabay County, a 45-year-old man was murdered in an attack.

The body of Kennedy Odhiambo was found in a pool of blood long after his murder outside his house on August 8.

Both his hands were fractured, and the body had multiple deep cuts on the leg.

His house had been broken into and ransacked by the assailants.

The motive of the incident is yet to be established, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

In Mahanga, Vihiga County, Stanley Angose, 49, was found dead with deep cuts in the head, elbow and right arm.

Police said the murder happened on Saturday morning as the deceased left a funeral vigil.

Murder cases have been on the rise amid efforts to address the trend. Up to eight cases are reported on a daily basis.

Police said they are pursuing the assailants to establish the exact motive of the attack and murder.

Elsewhere in the Makadara area, Nairobi, at the Mutindwa Railway underpass, a man was killed by a train.

The train was headed for Nairobi from Ruiru when it hit a man who was walking along the railway line, killing him.

The body was later collected from the scene to the mortuary pending other procedures, police said.
