President William Ruto has shared a light-hearted dancing moment with Kenyan musician Kevin Bahati during an empowerment forum held at State House.
The event on Saturday brought together dozens of leaders allied to both the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the Kenya Kwanza government in a show of political alliance.
A highlight of the event came when Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie introduced Bahati to the gathering shortly after the leaders present had been recognised.
Dressed in striking blue attire, the award-winning singer was ushered to the podium, handed a microphone, and began performing his popular hit "Wanani (Toto Si Toto)."
As the opening beats filled the air, President Ruto, who had been seated among the guests, rose from his seat, walked towards Bahati, and joined him on the podium.
The two quickly got into rhythm, dancing side by side to the catchy tune as the crowd cheered them on. MP Kiarie stood behind them, joining in the lively performance.
At one point, Bahati raised his hands and formed a fist, seemingly demonstrating specific dance moves to the President that matched the song’s flow and lyrics.
A smiling Ruto gamely followed along, mirroring the singer’s gestures and steps.
Members of the audience, many of them Nairobians, were seen holding up their phones to capture the rare moment of the head of state dancing with one of Kenya’s top musicians.
Some appeared to be trying to take selfies with the duo as they moved closer to the front of the podium. Despite the excitement, security remained tight, with officers gently keeping the crowd from getting too close.
The performance ended with applause as Bahati concluded his set, leaving the podium while President Ruto remained to acknowledge the audience.
Earlier in the morning, Nairobians braved the cold to attend the empowerment forum.
Youths were seen chanting “two terms” as they walked to the State House.
Ruto’s administration has been holding empowerment forums across the country to uplift Kenyans.
During the State House forum, Ruto urged Kenyans to register with the Social Health Authority, stating that they will be able to walk into a hospital and get services without paying out of their pockets.
