The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened applications for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes ahead of the September 2025 intake, in a move aimed at increasing access to skills training across the country.

In an announcement made on Saturday, KUCCPS said the application window will run from August 8 to August 22, 2025, giving eligible candidates two weeks to secure placement in various diploma, craft certificate, and artisan certificate courses.

In a policy shift to encourage more enrolments, the application fee has been reduced from Sh1,500 to Sh500.

"KUCCPS has reopened TVET placement applications for the September 2025 intake, from 8th to 22nd August 2025. Application fee slashed from Sh1,500 to Sh500 to boost access!" the announcement read.

The placement agency has called on Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders from the years 2000 to 2024 to apply for available TVET opportunities.

Minimum academic requirements have been set for different qualification levels: a C-minus and above for Diploma (Level 6) courses, a D (plain) and above for Craft Certificate (Level 5) programmes, and an E for Artisan Certificate (Level 4) courses

Application guidelines are available on the KUCCPS website, www.kuccps.ac.ke.

Those seeking assistance can visit any TVET institution or Huduma Centre across the country. Inquiries can also be made by calling 020 5137400 or 0723 954 927, or by emailing [email protected].

The announcement comes amid government efforts to strengthen the country’s technical training capacity and align skills development with industry demands.

The agency is a state corporation mandated to coordinate the placement of government-sponsored students to universities, colleges, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

Established under the Universities Act, KUCCPS also develops career guidance programmes, disseminates information on available courses, and ensures equitable access to higher education opportunities.

The agency oversees application processes, sets minimum entry requirements, and allocates students to institutions based on merit, preferences, and available capacity.

Successful applicants will now join accredited institutions in September, beginning courses designed to equip them with practical knowledge in diverse fields.
