Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has kept a promise he made to buy 500 tickets for Kenyan football fans ahead of the Harambee Stars clash with Angola, in the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.

In a statement, Kalonzo said the promise has been kept and the tickets handed over to the Kenya Football Fans Federation.

They were handed over to the Federation’s president by his party secretary, General and Executive Director.

The former Vice President urged Kenyans to support the men’s national football team.

“As promised on Sunday, I purchased 500 tickets to tomorrow's Harambee Stars vs. Angola match at Kasarani. Asante @TheWiperParty SG Senator Shakila Abdalla and Executive Director Benson Milai for handling over the tickets to Francis Liyobi, president of the Kenya Football Fans Federation @Kefofa_ _, on my behalf. Tushabikie #HarambeeStars!” Kalonzo said.

In another post by the Wiper leader said he will ensure Kenyan fans get tickets for the match against Angola.

Even as he accused the government of intentionally making tickets unavailable for the game against Morocco, which will be played on August 10.

“I understand that the Kenya vs Morocco match on August 10 at Kasarani is "Sold Out". We will do our best to ensure fans get the match day tickets for that game, and the Kenya vs Zambia on August 13 at Kasarani.”

The CHAN tournament, being co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, started on August 2, 2025.

Fans have had a challenge accessing tickets beginning with the nation’s first match against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The same has been witnessed in getting tickets for Sunday’s game, which was already sold out by Tuesday.

According to CHAN local organising Committee chairman Nicholas Musonye, the stadiums can only sell up to 90 per cent of tickets for safety reasons.

“People think Kasarani still holds 66,000, but that’s no longer the case. Due to new configurations, the certified maximum capacity is now 48,000 and even then, you can’t fill it 100 percent for safety reasons. You have to leave some breathing space,” Musonye clarified.
