The Kenya Meteorological Department has said that several
regions of the country will experience a mix of chilly mornings, scattered
rainfall, and strong winds.
In the latest weather forecast for August 5 to August 11, 2025,
the weatherman said a slight increase in rainfall is expected in parts of the
Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the Coast, and North-western Kenya.
Met noted that while the showers will remain scattered, they
may bring much-needed short-term relief to farmers and rangelands that have
been facing dry spells.
The Kenya Meteorological Department urged residents in
affected areas to stay informed and take advantage of the improved conditions.
“The showers will remain scattered but may provide temporary
relief for farmers and rangelands,” the forecast states.
Meanwhile, cold and cloudy conditions are predicted to blanket
large parts of the country, including the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the
South-eastern Lowlands, and parts of the Rift Valley.
Temperatures are expected to drop, especially during mornings
and nights.
“Mornings and nights may feel especially chilly,” Met said.
Residents are advised to wear warm clothing, particularly
the elderly, children, and those with respiratory conditions.
Daytime heat will still dominate in some regions, especially
North-eastern and North-western Kenya, with hot temperatures above 30 degrees
Celsius.
At the same time, other parts of the country will face very
cold nights.
“Cold nights (below 10°C) are likely in parts of the Central
Highlands, SE Lowlands, and the Rift Valley.”
In addition to temperature swings, strong winds are expected
to hit several regions.
According to the forecast, “Strong southerly to
south-easterly winds greater than 25 knots (12.86 metres per second) are
expected across the Coast, Kenya’s territorial waters, SE Lowlands, NE, and
NW.”
The weatherman said they will continue to monitor the
evolving conditions and issue regular updates.
