UDA assures Mbeere North aspirants of transparent nomination

The seat previously held by Ruku fell vacant after he took up the Cabinet job.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has assured Mbeere North parliamentary aspirants of a credible and transparent nomination process.

In a statement following a retreat that brought together UDA chairperson Cecily Mbarire, Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Geoffrey Ruku, and at least nine of the 12 candidates who have expressed interest in vying for the seat, the party reaffirmed its commitment to unity, development, and servant leadership.

The seat previously held by Ruku fell vacant after he took up the Cabinet job.

“In light of the upcoming Mbeere North By-Election, the meeting underscored the importance of integrity, inclusivity, and fairness," UDA said.

“All candidates were assured of a transparent and credible nomination process."

According to the party, the meeting provided a platform to reflect on the needs of the people of Mbeere North and to engage in constructive dialogue on key development priorities.

The retreat also focused on reviewing current and future development initiatives, as the leaders discussed challenges facing the constituency and explored solutions to improve the lives of residents.

UDA reaffirmed its dedication to democratic values and encouraged aspirants to contribute positively to the campaign and the development of the constituency, the county, and the nation.

The party reiterated its belief that leadership is rooted in service and that collective vision brings lasting change.

“UDA stands strong in the belief that leadership is about service, and that collective vision delivers lasting change. The party celebrates the spirit of unity and focus that defined this retreat, and looks forward to walking this journey together with the people, for the people.”

The aspirants who attended the retreat include Josiah Thiriku, Leonard Wamuthende, Dominic Murage, Stephen Ngari, Joab Kwayo, Muriuki Njagagua, Kariuki Mate and Daniel Mbongo.

With the appointment of the IEBC Commissioners, various seats that have for long remained vacant as a result of nominations to the Cabinet or death will now be filled.

Already, seats resulting from nominations have been filled.
