President William Ruto’s long-serving aide, Farouk Kibet, has criticised a section of opposition leaders, accusing them of promoting divisive and regressive politics at the expense of national unity.

Speaking during a church fundraiser at Elgon Estate Primary School in Turbo Constituency, Farouk urged leaders to stop using tribal sentiments to gain political mileage.

He warned that such actions risk eroding the peace and cohesion Kenyans have worked hard to achieve.

“It’s unfortunate when some leaders choose to play the tribal card for selfish political gains constantly. We must rise above that and focus on building a united nation,” Farouk said.

He emphasised that President Ruto’s leadership was supported by Kenyans across all regions, not because of ethnicity, but because of his proven leadership and vision for the country.

“All Kenyans backed the President because they saw his ability to lead, not his background. We should continue to support his efforts to transform our country,” he added.

Farouk also criticised unnamed opposition figures for taking their divisive rhetoric beyond Kenya’s borders, warning that exporting negative narratives abroad only hurts the country’s image.

“Anyone who disrespects their nation on foreign soil does not deserve to lead. Such behaviour is irresponsible and shameful,” he stated.

Farouk further urged Kenyans, especially the youth, to remain focused, respectful, and disciplined during the ongoing school holidays.

He challenged students to make good use of the break and prioritise their education.

“Success and a good life come from discipline and respect—for parents, for teachers, and for leaders,” he said.

His remarks were echoed by Turbo MP Janet Sitienei, who described her constituency as a model of unity and diversity. She encouraged Kenyans to remain peaceful and support the President’s development agenda.
