Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former Interior CS Fred Matiang'i convened a meeting with Kenyan professionals living and working in Baltimore, Maryland, during their tour of the United States of America.
Gachagua announced that the engagement was with various professionals, including Kenyan teachers, healthcare providers, and community workers.
"In Baltimore, Maryland, accompanied by my spouse, Pastor Dorcas, and Dr. Fred Matiang'i, I held a productive engagement with Kenyan teachers, health care providers, and community workers who live and work in the USA," he stated.
The Former DP was flanked by his spouse Pastor Dorcas.
The Democratic for Citizens Party (DCP) leader raised concerns about the state of education around the country, noting that many stakeholders, both locally and abroad, are worried about the direction the sector is taking.
"Education is one of the most essential foundations that every nation must take seriously. Nobody should be left free to decide to shake the very foundation of our Nation and the legacy we live on," he said.

The former DP expressed appreciation for the Kenyan diaspora's continued engagement in national affairs, especially professionals in the education sector who, he said, remain committed to improving learning outcomes both in Kenya and abroad.
“Thank you, teachers, for your solidarity and for being good ambassadors of our Nation, Kenya,” he noted.
