The Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) reaffirmed its commitment to employee wellness, unity, and teamwork Thursday with a vibrant, action-packed sports day in Nairobi.

The event held at the KCB Leadership Centre in Karen was themed “Igniting Team Spirit, Fueling Fitness, and Powering Productivity.” It brought together hundreds of commission staff for a day filled with sports, celebration, and camaraderie.

Organised by the PSC Wellness Committee, the day was a striking testament to the Commission’s focus on holistic employee wellbeing.

Wellness Committee chairperson Osborn Ndonga Obayo led the successful planning and execution of the event.

“The unity, energy, and excitement today showed what we can achieve when we move as one,” he said, thanking the Commission for supporting such a memorable occasion.

Clerk of the Senate and Secretary to the Commission Jeremiah Nyegenye praised the Committee for their tireless efforts, noting that events like these do more than boost morale.

“There are more gainful benefits from sports, improved physical health, enhanced communication among teams, and increased productivity,” he remarked.

The day featured an impressive lineup of sporting activities, including football, volleyball, basketball, darts, swimming, track and field events, table tennis, lawn tennis, chess, and the ever-popular tug of war.

Cheers and laughter echoed across the venue as teams from various departments competed in friendly yet fierce contests, reinforcing bonds of trust, discipline, and shared pride.

Nominated Senator Joyce Korir stole the show with a spirited performance on the volleyball court, leading her team to victory and underscoring the importance of women’s leadership in all spheres.

Commissioners Mishi Mboko and Wahome Wamatinga, along with Senate Deputy Clerks Eunice Gachangi and Mohamed Ali, spent the day engaging with staff and participating in events, embodying the very spirit of inclusivity the event championed.

The PSC Director Noor Ghalgan, was commended for her seamless coordination of the day’s logistics and overall success, while the Wellness Committee received accolades for their tireless planning and execution.

Their rallying motto, “It will be better,” echoed through every well-run activity."

The day concluded with a colourful awards dinner, where top-performing teams and standout individuals were honoured with medals, trophies, and special commendations for sportsmanship and team spirit.

Notably, there was a strong call for the inclusion of a women’s football tournament in future editions, reflecting the event's progressive and inclusive momentum.

Reflecting on the day, participant Nathan Njenga summed it up best: “Today we competed, we laughed, we bonded, but above all, we reminded ourselves that behind the titles and tasks, we are one team.”

The 2025 PSC Sports Day was not just a sporting event, it was a celebration of unity, wellness, and the shared values that define the Commission.
