The advert comes after Ann Nderitu resigned as Registrar of Political Parties to take up a new role as a commissioner at the Independent Electoral and
Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
PSC advertised the job opportunities in the latest copy of
MyGov.
For the position of Registrar of Political Parties, interested applicants are required to meet certain qualifications, which include holding a degree from a university recognised in Kenya and having proven knowledge and
experience in the fields of Finance, Management, Political Science, Law, Governance,
or Public Administration.
“They should also
have at least fifteen (15) years post-qualification experience in the relevant
areas of expertise, and have high moral character and integrity, and have satisfied the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution,” PSC said.
The successful candidate will be performing the
following functions; registering, regulating, monitoring, investigating and supervising political parties to ensure compliance with the Act, administer the political parties fund, ensure
publication of audited annual accounts of political parties, verify and make
publicly available the list of all members of political parties, keep and maintain a register of members of
registered political parties.
The registrar will also maintain a register of political
parties and the symbols of the political parties, ensure and verify that no
person is a member of more than one political party and notify IEBC of the
findings, certify that an independent candidate in an election is not a member
of any registered political party, and certify that the symbol intended to be
used by an independent candidate in an election does not resemble the symbol of
a registered political party.
He/she will also certify that the names appearing in a party
list are the names of members of the political party presenting the party list,
regulate political party nominations by the Political Parties
Act, train political party election agents upon the request and financing by
the political party, investigate complaints received under the Act, and perform
any such other functions as may be conferred by the Act or any other written
law.
On the other hand, interested applicants for the position of Assistant Registrar of Political Parties are required to meet the exact requirements as the Registrar.
“The Assistant Registrar of Political Parties shall deputise the Registrar of Political Parties in the functions of the office,” PSC noted.
“A person shall not be qualified for appointment as a
Registrar or Assistant Registrar if the person has, at any time within the preceding
five years, held office or stood for election as a Member of Parliament or a
county assembly or as a member of a governing body of a political party,” the commission
added.
PSC noted that the Registrar and Assistant Registrar shall
serve for a non-renewable term of six years and shall not be eligible for
re-appointment.
People with disabilities, the marginalised, and minorities are
encouraged to apply for the positions.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to present their National
Identity Card, Academic and Professional Certificates and transcript, any other
supporting documents and testimonials, and Clearances from KRA, EACC, HELB,
police clearance certificate, and any registered credit reference bureaus.
Applications should be submitted, together with a detailed curriculum vitae, a copy of
ID/Passport, copies of academic and professional certificates and transcripts,
testimonials, and any other relevant documents.

“Online applications should be submitted in PDF Format via

Interested and qualified applicants should submit their
applications on or before August 5, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. at the latest.
