President William Ruto attended the Talanta bell ringing ceremony at the Nairobi Stock Exchange on Wednesday to commemorate the listing of the Linzi asset-backed security.

Speaking at the event, Ruto lauded the listing of Linzi 003 Infrastructure Asset-Backed Security at the Nairobi Securities Exchange, terming it a landmark achievement in Kenya’s shift towards market-based financing.

The listing raised over Sh44 billion, reflecting growing investor confidence and the deepening of local capital markets.

Ruto said the asset-backed initiative joins other off-balance sheet innovations such as the G-to-G fuel supply deal and a Sh175 billion securitisation programme.

“This confirms our capacity to mobilise substantial domestic capital to finance strategic national priorities,” he said.

The president outlined key economic gains under his administration, including a drop in inflation from 9.6 per cent to 3.8 per cent, a stabilised exchange rate at Sh129 per dollar.

He also cited progress in jobs and services, stating that 320,000 people have been employed under the Affordable Housing Programme, 180,000 digital jobs have been created, and 25 million Kenyans have been enlisted under SHA.

“The pledges I made to Kenyans are being realised one by one, day by day,” Ruto added.
