A growing number of Kenyan luxury fashion designers are
setting up shop at the new Rhapta Promenade Mall in Westlands, Nairobi.
The development, located off Waiyaki Way along Rhapta Road,
is drawing attention for its mix of local fashion, wellness outlets, and dining
spots.
According to residents in the area, the mall is becoming a
new neighbourhood hub.
“It’s a nice space for families. You can come for coffee,
shopping, or even just to hang out,” said Sarah Wanjiku, a resident of the
nearby Raphta Estate.
While the mall is not yet officially launched, it is already
85 percent occupied.
Imran Noorani, CEO of the Rhapta Promenade Mall, said the location was chosen to reflect the evolving character of the surrounding neighbourhood.
“We identified a growing, vibrant community, one with a
distinct cultural identity and residents seeking elevated, convenient lifestyle
experiences that lacked a dedicated hub,” Noorani said in an interview.
The mall incorporates open-air walkways and green spaces in
its design, along with features such as smart parking and cashier-less
checkouts. Noorani also emphasised a sustainability angle.
“We prioritised the use of locally sourced materials and
finishes that align with global green standards,” he said.
The official opening of the mall is scheduled for Friday, August 1, 2025, with expectations that it will become a center for seasonal markets and community gatherings.
