Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has expressed confidence that President William Ruto will be re-elected in 2027, citing his commitment to national development and unity.

Kindiki said Ruto's administration is focused more on improving the lives of all Kenyans, regardless of their tribe, region, or economic status.

Speaking Friday during Shinyalu Economic Empowerment at Mukumu Grounds, Shinyalu Constituency, Kakamega County, Kindiki said focus remains on equitable development and economic empowerment across the country.

“We will continue to develop the country as our opponents continue to make noise, engage in tribal politics and sideshows," he said.

"We are working hard to make sure what we have started is accomplished before 2027 because we will come back here to you with a development scorecard as we seek a second term."

With the broad-based government in place, DP said leaders are combining efforts for faster realisation of key projects, including in roads, health, electricity, affordable housing and others critical to bettering lives.

“We are all behind President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga under the broad-based government. We are focused on interests and issues affecting all Kenyans and not politicians,” he assured.

In Kakamega, the government, in collaboration with the county administration, is elevating Kakamega Referral Hospital to Level 6 following requests by local leaders.

Recently, the President instructed speeding up the construction work for residents to start benefiting from improved health services.

“The President came here and promised allocation of funds to complete Kakamega Level 6 Hospital. Work is ongoing and will be completed in the next 6 months, and residents will benefit from better healthcare,” DP Kindiki revealed.

The government has also released funds for the revamping of Bukhungu stadium as promised by the President to provide better facilities for youth to harness their talents.

The county is also a beneficiary of the modern markets project, with several underway in the county, including the main one in Khayega.

Affordable housing projects are also ongoing in the devolved unit, with Masinde Muliro University and Sigalagala National Polytechnic benefitting from students’ hostels.

Under the last-mile electricity program, the county has received Sh2.5 billion for the connection of 26,000 new households.

“We want every home in Kakamega to be connected to electricity because it is not a reserve for a few rich people,” he stated.

Further, the second-in-command said the revival of sugar factories in the region will continue as they contribute significantly to its economic stability, pointing at the payment of bonuses as a positive indication of good things to come.

An investor has also been found for the restoration of the Kakamega gold sector as the government looks into improving returns for locals.

“We are working hard every day and night to ensure our people earn more in every sector,” DP reiterated.

The DP also called out the opposition for focusing on tribal affiliations and gossip.

“They are not bothered about the welfare of our youth and other Kenyans. Their work is to make noise from morning to evening without any development agenda for the country,” he added.

At the event, the DP was joined by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, Kakemega Governor Fernandes Barasa and President's Aide Farouk Kibet.

Others were MPs Fred Ikana (Shinyalu, host), Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo), Bernard Shinali (Ikolomani), Innocent Mugabe (Likuyani), Fatuma Zainab (Migori), John Bwire (Taveta), Mwengi Mutuse (Kibwezi West), Japhet Nyakundi (Kitutu Chache North) and Elsie Muhanda (Kakamega).
