Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has told the Opposition that politics is just a contest like any other.

Speaking in Kiambaa on Sunday, Kindiki said that it should not create any form of enmity between the competing parties.

He said that the losing side will always have a chance after five years and therefore should give the elected a chance to serve the people.

“Politics is not enmity. It is a competition of ideas, and if you are elected, you thank God and serve the people. If you lose, you wait for the next opportunity and give it a try,” he said.

The Deputy President warned that the Kenya Kwanza administration will not be dragged into early campaigns.

He insisted that this is the time for them to work for Kenyans and deliver on the promises they made during campaigns.

“When the time comes, we will delve fully into politics because we know we are the best at it. For now, we don’t want to lose focus. We want to complete ongoing projects and start others for the benefit of the people.”

Kindiki said that when the time for politics comes, they will do it.

He reiterated that Kenya Kwanza will take its scorecard to the people of Kenya, which they will use to decide if they deserve another term or not.

He said it will also be the time for the opposition to present their agenda to the country, and they must prepare for the same.

“When it’s time for campaigns, we will come with a scorecard of what we have achieved and what we did for the people of Kiambu and other areas.

“It will be time for everyone to do so including our opponents who occupied influential positions before,” the DP said.

Kindiki was accompanied by ICT, Information and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo, Kimani Ichungwah (Majority Leader-National Assembly), and Mary Muthoni (Principal Secretary, Public Health and Professional Standards).

MPs John Njuguna “Kawanjiku (Kiambaa), Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika Town), Machua Waithaka (Kiambu Town), Mburu Kahangara (Lari), GG Kagombe (Gatundu South), Simon King’ara (Ruiru), Githua Wamacukuru (Kabete), John Bwire (Taveta), Eddy Oketch (Senator Migori), Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), Maina Karobia (EALA), MCAs and other grassroots leaders were also present.
