Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo has condemned attempts by the political class to politicise recent tragedies in the county, even as he called for calm and unity amid rising tensions and insecurity.
In a statement, Guyo condoled with the family of Halima Ware, who died alongside her four children in a tragic fire incident.
He stated that police investigations had revealed the fire originated from a domestic dispute.
The governor noted that Halima had earlier reported threats to her life.
“This heartbreaking incident has shaken us all. It is disheartening that such a painful moment is being misused for political gain,” Guyo said.
The Isiolo governor also addressed the recent death of blogger Ismail Abdikadir, who died following a hit-and-run accident involving a lorry.
He said eyewitness and police accounts confirmed his death as a traffic incident.
Guyo, however, expressed concern that some individuals were linking the death to his administration without any evidence.
“Despite eyewitness accounts and police confirming the nature of the incident, certain individuals chose to politicize his death,” the governor stated.
“This is unfair and irresponsible,” he added.
The governor said that investigations were ongoing and assured residents that the culprits would face justice.
“These incidents have left families grieving and communities anxious. We stand with every family affected and remain committed to restoring security and peace.”
The governor urged residents to remain calm and not be swayed by those who use the tragedies for political gain.
He promised that his administration was working closely with security agencies to ensure justice and safety for all.
