The court will on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, rule on whether Ezekiel Muia Mutuku alias Macho, charged with robbery with violence, will be released on bond or cash bail terms.

This was after the accused was presented in court to take plea on the charges, where he denied all the charges.

The court postponed the ruling on whether the accused will be released on bond or bail in order for the defense counsel to be served with an application by the prosecution.

Mutuku is facing charges of robbing one Patel Kashyakumar Khantibhai of Sh999,000 while being armed with a dangerous weapon, namely a pistol.

The crime is alleged to have taken place near the bank where the complainant had withdrawn the money.

The accused is also charged with being in possession of public stores contrary to section 324 of the penal code.

"Ezekiel Muia Mutuku alias Macho, on July 2, 2025, at Ronald Ngala Street Eldoret Township in Moiben Subcounty within Uasin Gishu county, jointly with others not before court had in possession of public stores, namely a cap peak with a white canvas cap cover and a National Police Service crown badge, the property of NPS reasonably suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained," the charge sheet read in part.

The accused was in police custody after a miscellaneous application with a supporting affidavit was made and submitted to the court on July 4, 2025.

The application sought to detain the accused for 10 additional days pending investigations into the alleged crime.

The court granted the application and directed the respondent to be held at Parklands Police Station for 10 days pending investigations.

The accused was arrested on July 2, 2025, in Eldoret and detained at Parklands Police Station.
