Roots Party leader and former Presidential candidate George Wajackoyah has graduated with a Ph.D in Law and Public Policy from Walden University in Orlando, Florida, in the United States.

His graduation follows six years of studies. He graduated on Saturday.

Announcing his graduation, an elated Wajackoyah said that his thesis had also been published in the library of the Congress.

“Tomorrow is D-Day. 6 years of hard work. Tuko Orange Convention Center, Orlando, Florida. PhD Law & Public Policy. The work is listed in the Library of Congress for future research in law and scholarly writings,” he said on Friday.

He had earlier described the validation by Congress as Kenya making a mark in congressional research.

“I am very happy to announce that my PhD thesis in Law and Public Policy has been validated and published by the Library of Congress in the United States. This validation means that Congressional lawmakers can now refer to it as a source of law when making immigration laws. The doctoral thesis took me 6 years with COVID in between.”

The lawyer first tried to vie for the presidency in 2012 but dropped out of the race.

In 2022, however, he was cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to vie for the country’s top seat, becoming third in the election.

Wajackoyah captured the attention of the masses, particularly due to controversial proposals in his party manifesto, which included slashing working days to four days and legalisation of bhang.

In tow with the controversies came the lawyer's unique dress code and Rastafarian swag, which made him a darling of the media and the public.

He insists that he will still run for president in 2027.

Wajackoyah finished third in the 2022 polls with 61,969 votes.
