Narok businessman shoots dead reveller in parking row

A motorist who is a businessman shot and killed a reveller in an altercation at the parking yard of a club in Narok Town.

The incident happened Saturday, July 12, morning at the parking yard, police said.

According to police, the gunman, who is a licensed gun holder, had an altercation with the deceased over a parking space.

This was after one of them accused the other of blocking the other.

The businessman went for his Glock pistol and opened fire, fatally injuring the other motorist, identified as Mandela Nabala, 35.

He shot him in the chin, fatally wounding him, police said. He was rushed to the Narok County Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police were called to the scene and confiscated the firearm loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition and recovered one cartridge.

He was later detained at the local police station pending a probe into the shooting. His car was also detained at the station.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an investigation and autopsy.

Police said there had been a surge in the misuse of firearms by both licensed civilians and members of the disciplined services.

The civilian licensed firearm holders go through a rigorous process to get permits to own the weapons.

There are about 15,000 licensed firearm holders in the country.

Elsewhere, a man was killed and his body set on fire on claims he had a relationship with a married woman in Wendano village, Tala, Machakos County.

The assailant is the husband of the woman at the center of the saga, police said.

Police said the deceased was confronted and killed as he bought vegetables from the woman he was accused of having a relationship on July 11.

The deceased had injuries on the head, both hands and legs and burns all over.

It is suspected the assailant doused the body with petrol before setting it on fire, police said.

The man escaped the scene, and efforts to trace him are ongoing, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

In Kalama, Machakos County, a woman identified as Faith Mwende, 45, was found murdered and her body hidden under a bed.


The woman had bruises on her knees and had soiled herself, police and witnesses said.

The assailants are believed to have stolen three bags of 90 kilos of beans that were in the house.

Police are investigating the incident.
