The new Chairperson and six Commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) are expected to be sworn in today.

This is after President William Ruto formally gazette the appointments to regularise the process following a recent High Court ruling.

In Gazette Notice No. 9269, dated July 10, 2025, Ruto appointed Erastus Edung Ethekon as the new Chairperson of the IEBC for a six-year term.

In a separate Gazette Notice No. 9270, also dated July 10, 2025, Ruto named six individuals to serve as IEBC commissioners for a similar six-year term.

The appointees are Ann Njeri Nderitu, Moses Alutalala Mukhwana, Mary Karen Sorobit, Hassan Noor Hassan, Francis Odhiambo Aduol and Fahima Araphat Abdallah.

Slain mask vendor Boniface Kariuki to be buried in Murang’a County

Mask vendor Boniface Kariuki, who was shot by police a police officer during the June 25, 2025 protests will be laid to rest today in Kangema, Murang'a County.

Kariuki was pronounced dead last week after two weeks in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kenyatta Hospital, where he had been admitted following the shooting. 

Doctors declared him brain dead.

During a requiem mass at the All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi on Wednesday, his family and friends remembered him as a hardworking, kind-hearted young man who met his death while going about his normal duties. 

EACC to commemorate 9th African Anti-Corruption Day

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), in collaboration with the Kenya Leadership Integrity Forum (KLIF) will commemorate the 9th African Anti-Corruption Day, at the KICC in Nairobi.

This year’s theme is “Promoting Human Dignity in the Fight Against Corruption” reflecting the need to safeguard the rights and well-being of all citizens by addressing corruption in all sectors.

The event will feature keynote speeches, a panel discussion, and a call to action by stakeholders championing good governance, human rights and accountability in Kenya.

Uhuru to grace launch of the New Amref International University Campus and the 6th AMIU graduation ceremony

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to grace the launch of the New Amref International University Campus and the 6th AMIU graduation ceremony.

The venue is at Northlands in Ruiru. 

AMIU is Africa’s premier Pan-African University of Health.

This years’ theme is “Localizing Innovations to Strengthen Primary Health Care in Africa”.

AMIU said the occasion marks a significant milestone, not only for the graduating Class of 2025 but also for the university’s bold vision to expand access to quality health education, drive local innovation and strengthen the continent’s health systems.

Youth Leading Change to hold a graduation ceremony for over 300 young Kenyans

Yusudi, in partnership with GIZ Kenya, will hold a graduation event for over 300 young Kenyans — primarily women — who have completed an intensive program equipping them with sales, soft skills and entrepreneurial mindsets. 

The graduates are stepping into the workforce with renewed confidence, capability, and purpose, supported by the Women in Green Sales Project — an initiative committed to fostering dignified employment and green economic growth. 

The event will take place at Calvary Temple, Rabai Road, Umoja/Buru Buru Phase 1, Nairobi, from 9am to 1pm.
