President
William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, has reaffirmed
the government’s commitment to empowering women, stating that it is central to
building a better Kenya.
Speaking on
Saturday during a women's empowerment event in Likoni, Mombasa County, Farouk
said that uplifting women remains a priority for President Ruto's
administration.
This, he
said, is part of a wider strategy for inclusive national development.
“When you empower women, you are building the country,” Farouk said.
“That is why
we are here — to empower you, women. That is why we honour invites from leaders
like Mishi Mboko, because we want to build a better Kenya through women and
everyone else.”

The event, organised
in support of Likoni MP Mishi Mboko’s women empowerment programme, was attended
by senior government officials, including Deputy Kithure Kindiki, National
Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, and Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah.
Farouk emphasised
the government’s commitment to advancing the interests of all citizens,
regardless of their background or gender. “We want to move forward with
everyone, including you women,” he said.

He also took
a swipe at politicians he accused of sowing division and sponsoring protests
under the guise of political grievances.
“For those
selling tribalism, your day is numbered,” he warned.
"Wale
watu wanatumia pesa yao kufanyia maandamano tunataka wakuje Likoni wafanye
maendeleo," Farouk added, meaning “Those who are spending their money organising
protests, we want them to come to Likoni and engage in development instead.”
"Maendeleo
si ya fujo, wanazurura Kenya bila maendeleo," he added — “Development is
not about chaos. They roam around Kenya achieving nothing.”

He
underscored the role of women and youth as pillars of transformation, noting
that empowerment unlocks potential and lays the groundwork for a more equitable
society.
“Empowerment
is key to unlocking potential, fostering self-reliance, and driving positive
change. When we uplift youth and women, we lay the foundation for a more
equitable and prosperous society,” Farouk said.
The event
drew large crowds, many of them women, who were addressed on financial
literacy, entrepreneurship, and access to government programmes.
The leaders
in attendance pledged to continue supporting grassroots initiatives aimed at
improving livelihoods.
