Police in Ngong Town, Kajiado County, have launched investigations after the body of a woman was found dumped in a 200-litre water tank in Olekeri area on Tuesday, July 2.

According to officers who responded to the scene, the woman was naked, with visible injuries on the neck and both knees.

Her hands had been tied with a rope, and she had no identification documents.

The tank, which was in active use, had been used to conceal the body.

Detectives said the motive behind the killing and the identity of those responsible remain unknown.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and identification. Investigators are treating the case as murder.

Elsewhere in Suam, Endebes, in Trans Nzoia County, police are also probing the suspected murder of a man whose body was discovered near a water treatment plant.

The half-naked body had injuries to the head, bruises on the buttocks, and the right leg, suggesting he had been tortured.

Authorities believe the victim may have been killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the location. The motive is yet to be determined.

In a separate incident in Wagai, Gem, Siaya County, a 69-year-old woman died in a house fire.

Police said Consolata Ogada, who lived alone, was warming herself with firewood when her clothes caught fire.

Witnesses who responded to her screams found the door locked from inside. She collapsed near the entrance while trying to escape.

Her body, which was partially burnt, was taken to the mortuary.

Meanwhile, police in Kaguma, Imenti area of Meru County, have opened a murder investigation after a man suspected of being a habitual thief was stoned to death and his body set on fire by a mob on Tuesday evening.

Authorities have condemned the act and urged the public to report suspects to the police rather than take the law into their own hands.
