Suspect arrested as police seize 5,660 rolls of bhang

One suspect was arrested on Tuesday, July 1, after being found in possession of 5,660 rolls of cannabis sativa.

‘’On 1 July 2025, officers from the National Police Service (NPS) in Nairobi conducted a targeted operation in Kamulu, Ruai Sub-County, focusing on the trafficking of dangerous drugs,‘’ NPS noted.

The suspect was placed in police custody, awaiting arraignment.

The National Police Service warns the public against any involvement in drug trafficking and reiterates its unwavering commitment to combating narcotics and related criminal activities.

This came after three suspects were arrested on Monday, 9 June, after being found in possession of 50kg of cannabis sativa (bhang), 30 hash-infused cookies, and 810 rolls of bhang.

The arrests occurred during an anti-narcotics operation conducted by officers from the National Police Service (NPS) in the Kasarani area of Nairobi.

The recovered items are being held as evidence at the same facility.

Meanwhile, on May 31 ,2025, one suspect was arrested in Kwale County during an operation after he was found in possession of six sacks of cannabis sativa. 

Officer Commanding Station (OCS) and officers from Mackinnon Road Police Station recovered six sacks containing suspected narcotics and 73 cannabis sticks in Makina Chini Village.

Of the 73 cannabis sticks recovered, forty of them were found loose on a bed, while the remaining 33, each wrapped in brown paper, were concealed inside a jerrycan.

However, the police noted that the substance was found in two separate rooms during their raid. 

‘’A total of six sacks containing the suspected narcotics were recovered from different rooms,’’ police said

The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody, pending processing and arraignment,
