Konza Technopolis shines at Africa AI Literacy Week 2025

Konza Technopolis reaffirmed its position at the forefront of Africa’s digital transformation during the official launch of Africa AI Literacy Week 2025.

The summit is a landmark initiative aimed at embedding artificial intelligence into the continent’s education systems.

The launch event, held at Huawei HQ in Nairobi and mirrored in cities across Kenya—including Nakuru, Kilifi, Kisumu, and Mt Kenya—as well as in Zambia, Senegal, and Togo, marked the start of a weeklong, continent-wide campaign under the theme “AI in My Language, My Classroom, My Future.”

Representing the Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) at the Nairobi launch were David Njuki, Jitume Program Officer, and Dennis Mambo, Innovation Officer.

Their presence was particularly significant as two of the top three winners in the AI Innovation Challenge—which recognised outstanding youth-led AI solutions—were startups incubated at Konza Technopolis.

The startups took home the first and second runners-up positions, a testament to the strength of Konza's innovation pipeline.

“This outcome underscores Konza’s ongoing success in nurturing future-focused ventures and elevating youth-led startups onto regional and global stages,” said Njuki.

Africa AI Literacy Week 2025 is a strategic leap toward equipping Africa’s next generation with AI competencies.

With over 700 teachers registered through their national Teachers Service Commissions participating in Train-the-Trainer programs, the initiative aims to seed AI literacy in thousands of classrooms across the continent.

Students, too, are actively involved through hackathons, hands-on AI sessions, and tech showcases, bridging the critical gap between curiosity and practical capability.

For Konza Technopolis, participation in this initiative aligns directly with its mission to transform Kenya into a globally competitive, knowledge-based economy under Vision 2030.

Key to that mission is the development of smart infrastructure and a robust innovation ecosystem.

Through programmes like the Jitume Digital Skilling Programme, the Konza Innovation Ecosystem, the Smart Campus, and a soon-to-be-established AI Institute, Konza is seen as not just preparing Africa’s youth for the future—it’s enabling them to lead it.

Strategic partnerships with global tech leaders such as Huawei, academic institutions, and government agencies continue to drive the rollout of advanced technologies including AI, cloud computing, and 5G.
