President William Ruto has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties with Ukraine, citing mutual gains in education, food security, trade, and ICT.
Speaking after holding bilateral talks with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Seville, Spain, Ruto said the partnership is vital for both nations and their citizens.
“We recognise the importance of expanding educational opportunities, particularly for our students, and welcome deeper collaboration with Ukraine in this area,” said the President.
Ruto further noted Kenya's interest in addressing food security challenges jointly and exploring how Ukraine could leverage Kenya’s strategic location for regional distribution of key commodities.
The two leaders met on the sidelines of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development.
Ruto said the talks also touched on cooperation in information and communication technology and trade for shared development.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace and stability through peacekeeping, mediation, and multilateral diplomacy, anchored in the UN Charter and a rules-based global order.
Ruto arrived safely in Seville, Spain, to take part in the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development.
Ruto is in Spain and later the UK to promote global partnerships aligned with Kenya’s economic transformation.
His agenda includes championing climate action, advancing digital trade, and securing green finance—areas that also mirror Kenya’s broader cooperation goals with Ukraine.
