The three-day event, held at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang'ata, brought together elite athletes from KDF, NPS, KPS, regional teams, universities, and other institutions, all vying for national glory and a place in Team Kenya.
Despite a spirited performance, NPS settled for second overall, with Kenya Prisons finishing third when the curtains fell on the event on Friday.
NPS made their presence felt in the relays, sprinting to gold in both the men’s and women’s 4x400m races.
They also scooped silver in the 4x100m for both genders, underlining their depth and coordination on the track.
In the men’s 400m, NPS flexed its sprinting muscle as George Mutinda and Brian Tinega claimed first and second place, thrilling fans with a dominant finish.
Mary Nyaruai Ekiru proved too strong for the competition in the women’s 1500m, crossing the line with a comfortable lead.

In the men’s category, Reynold Cheruiyot powered to gold while Abel Kipsang clinched bronze, giving NPS a solid medal haul in the middle-distance events.
Field events saw seasoned javelin throwers Julius Yego and Irene Chepkemoi bag gold in their respective finals, keeping NPS’s flag flying high with world-class throws.
Sprinting queen Milicent Ndoro was unstoppable in the women’s 200m final, outrunning Kenya Prisons’ Esther Mbagari with sheer pace and poise.
Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, delivered gold in the 100m, igniting the crowd with his signature explosive start.
However, he had to settle for silver in the 200m after a tight finish behind KDF’s Zablon Ekwam. NPS’s Denis Mwai secured the bronze.
Though KDF topped the medal tally, the National Police Service left the track with heads held high, having demonstrated resilience, discipline, and outstanding talent across various events.
As the curtain falls on this year’s championships, NPS athletes now shift focus to the upcoming trials and international assignments, determined to keep the service’s sporting legacy alive.
