Protestors in various counties came out in large numbers to join in the June 25 demos.

Some of the counties where protests are currently taking place include Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisii, Kitengela town in Machakos, Nyeri and Eldoret.

In Nairobi, protestors gathered as early as 7 am, despite police barricading major roads leading to the CBB.

Most businesses remained closed in the city as many premises feared the wrath of the protesters.

In Mombasa, residents took to the streets to commemorate the victims of the 2024 anti-finance Bill protests.

They began their day with mass at ACK Cathedral along Nkrumah Road. They then marched to Mapembeni area along Moi Avenue, where the protest officially kicked off.

In Kisii, protestors engaged police in running battles are they lit bonfires on the roads.

In Eldoret, hundreds of youth took to the streets to participate in the Gen Z protests.

The protests started at the Eldoret main market as the youths went round the streets. Hundreds of police were quickly deployed as businesses were shut down.

The anti-riot police swung into action after some of the demonstrators took to the Namanga Road and barricaded it using stones, thereby disrupting transport.

They lit live fire using tyres, chanting anti-government messages.

The engagement between the police and demonstrators have been ongoing for close to two hours now.

Residents of Nyeri also came out in large numbers to join other protestors in the demos.

Kisumu, however, witnessed minimal activity and slow movement on Wednesday morning.

Government offices, supermarkets, and banks remained open as usual, while some businesses, especially small retail outlets, stayed closed as owners expressed fear over possible disruptions during the protests.

In Makueni, protestors blocked the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway and lit bonfires. Police have deployed tear gas to disperse the group.

In Bungoma, a small group of protestors was seen gathered at Chwele market.

In Embu, a group of protesters gathered around the Cylet area. Bonfires have been lit along the street, and anti-riot police are on-site monitoring the situation.

In Kiambu, protesters have lit bonfires along Thika road - Tatu city junction in Ruiru Subcounty, while in Kajiado, protesters have blocked the Namanga – Nairobi highway with stones.

Police have deployed tear gas, and traffic disruptions have been reported.

Other counties where protests are taking place include Homa Bay, Makueni, Kirinyaga and Busia.
