Police in Voi, Taita Taveta County, are investigating a suspected murder after the decomposed body of a man was found near a railway line.

The body was discovered under a bridge along the Meter Gauge Railway on June 17. Authorities said the man had visible injuries to his neck, and one of his feet was partially severed.

It remains unclear if he was hit by a train or dumped at the scene. The body has been taken to the mortuary for identification and autopsy.

In Turkana County, a 25‑year‑old woman died from electrocution after coming into contact with a live wire.

Police said Irene Ewoton had stepped out for a short call when she touched an electrified fence in Kanamkemer village.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Her body has been taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Meanwhile, in Sikusi village, Chwele, Bungoma County, a 19‑year‑old man died after a night of drinking at a local bar.

Police said Nick Wasubile had been drinking with friends when he requested to rest inside the bar on Wednesday night.

The next morning, staff found him unresponsive and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

Authorities have launched an investigation, and bar attendants have been questioned as the police await autopsy results to determine the cause of death.

Separately, police are pursuing a gang that raided a stalled train and stole wheat near Nakuru.

The train, carrying 16 wagons of bulk wheat, derailed and stopped in the Sabatia‑Maji Mazuri area on June 19.

A group of looters emerged from a nearby forest, broke the seal of one wagon, and stole an unknown quantity of wheat.

Police responded quickly to secure the scene, and the train was later pulled to its intended destination. Authorities say investigations into the incident are ongoing.
