Police probe 5 suicide cases reported in different counties

According to WHO, there are approximately four suicide deaths in Kenya every day.

Suicide

A 57-year-old man was found dead in his house in Embakasi, Nairobi, after he hanged himself behind the door of his home.

The deceased had earlier informed his friend to pass by his house after work. Upon his arrival, he found him dead and told the police about the incident.

His body was moved to the City mortuary for presentation, awaiting autopsy.

Still in Nairobi, a 31-year-old man was found dead in his house in the Sabasaba area after he hanged himself with a belt behind his door.

The deceased had been missing for two weeks, and his cousin went to his place to look for him and found him dead.

His body was taken to Mama Lucy's morgue, awaiting autopsy.

In Nakuru, a 30-year-old male was found dead after hanging himself from a tree with a manilla rope in Olosuswa farm.

The mother of the deceased informed the officers about the demise of his son. The officers, together with the DCI, visited the crime scene and noted that he did not have any physical injuries.

The scene was processed, and the body was moved to Naivasha Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, awaiting autopsy.

Meanwhile, in Kajiado, a 22-year-old lady was found dead by her mother at their home in Kibiko.

Officers visited the scene and reported that she hanged herself using a plastic rope tied to the truss of their stone roof.

Her body was moved to Ngong Sub County morgue awaiting autopsy.

In Muranga, a 38-year-old man died by suicide after hanging himself with a rope inside his one-roomed house.

It was established that the deceased reported back home the previous day and went to his house to sleep.

The following day, when his mother went to wake him up, she found that there was no response and the door was not locked from inside.

She looked inside the deceased's house and found the body hanging from the roof of the house.

Officers processed the scene, and the body was removed to Kiria ini hospital mortuary, awaiting autopsy.

According to WHO, there are approximately four suicide deaths in Kenya every day, with a crude suicide rate of 6.1 per 100,000 people and an age-standardized.
