The government has announced the availability of 220 completed housing units under the Boma Yangu Machakos Affordable Housing Project.

The newly built units include 60 studio apartments, 40 one-bedroom units, 60 two-bedroom units, and 60 three-bedroom units.

The project also features green spaces, playgrounds, recreational fields, ample parking, and well-paved pedestrian and vehicle pathways.

The announcement was made by the State Department for Housing and Urban Development, as part of the government’s wider Affordable Housing Programme.

The initiative aims to provide Kenyans across all 47 counties with access to decent and affordable housing.

Principal Secretary for Housing and Urban Development, Charles Hinga, reaffirmed the government's commitment to expanding home ownership.

“These projects are for Kenyans. We have made deliberate efforts to ensure every citizen can save, purchase, and own a housing unit as they pursue their aspirations,” Hinga said.

He urged interested Kenyans to apply for the units through the Boma Yangu portal at www.bomayangu.go.ke or by dialing *832#.

He also encouraged potential buyers to visit the site, where customer service representatives are on hand to answer questions.

The Boma Yangu platform has seen increased traffic following the release of nearly 5,000 housing units for public purchase.

Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, Alice Wahome, reported that over 140,000 affordable houses have been built so far.

The government is targeting 200,000 units annually, with a goal of one million homes in the next five years.

“Our mandate as the government is to ensure that Kenyans live in decent houses,” Wahome said.

“The affordable housing program is designed to fulfill the constitutional requirement under Article 43, which mandates the state to provide Kenyans with decent and affordable housing.”

She encouraged continued public participation through the Boma Yangu platform
