In Kisumu County, a male suspect held at Katito Police Station was found dead after allegedly hanging himself with a vest tied to the cell door grill.
The man had been arrested for livestock theft earlier that morning by the area chief of Agoro West.
Officers were alerted after a disturbance was heard from the cells.
Investigators from Nyakach DCI, Muhoroni SCPC, and Kisumu CSI visited the scene, which was preserved awaiting IPOA’s arrival.
In Taita Taveta, 63-year-old Mwakio Mwajaro Msula was discovered hanging from a tree near a cliff in Wujaki village.
His wife had reported him missing after he failed to return home the previous night.
He had a history of arthritis and high blood pressure; however, no suicide note was found.
DCI Wundanyi and a CSI from Voi documented the scene.
The body was taken to Wesu Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
In another incident in Kakamega County, 20-year-old Daniel Ashuye Mukoya was found dead in his house in Imangare village after going missing a day earlier.
He had hanged himself with a sisal rope alongside a suicide note citing poverty as the reason, and asked to be buried with a torch and knife.
Butere police processed the scene and moved the body to Butere Funeral Home.
In Lang’ata, Nairobi, Ernest Waithaka, 45, was found hanging from a tree in Karinde.
His wife, Janet Syombua, was informed by members of the public.
The scene was visited by Karen police and DCI officers, and the body was moved to St. Theresa Funeral Home.
In Mathare, Nairobi, Samuel Ndunge, 30, was taken to MSF hospital by family members after reportedly slitting his throat at his sister’s house in Gitathuro.
He was declared dead on arrival, and his body was moved to Kenyatta University Mortuary.
In another incident in Makueni County, Mutinda Nzioka of age 35, was found dead in his bedroom at Mwambani village.
He had used a rope to hang himself from the roof, and a suicide note was recovered alongside it.
The body was moved to Makueni Referral Mortuary.
Police in Makueni are investigating a case where Mutinda Nzioka, 35, was found dead after allegedly taking his own life at his home in Mwambani village.
According to the area assistant chief, Nzioka was last seen on Thursday, June 12, at around 1pm while grazing.
His body was later found hanging from the roof of his bedroom using a rope, and a suicide note was recovered at the scene.
DCI Makueni officers processed the area and moved the body to Makueni Referral Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem. the case is under investigation.
In Embu County, a 59-year-old Nicholas Nyaga was found hanging from a tree in Munyori village.
The man, who had not been seen in his rural home since January, had reportedly been living in Masinga.
Police found no visible injuries, and his body was taken to Embu Level 5 Hospital Mortuary.
All cases are under Pending Under Investigation (PUI) status as officers from respective DCI units and CSI teams continue probing the incidents.
Authorities have renewed calls for mental health support and community vigilance, especially in identifying and helping individuals facing distress.
