Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Vice President McDonald Mariga and former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama are mourning the loss of their mother, mama Mildred Wanyama.
Mama Mildred is said to have passed away peacefully on Saturday morning.
Mariga confirmed the news in a post on his X page.
"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, who left us peacefully today morning," he wrote.
No further details have been provided on the cause of her death.
Mariga added that the family will be meeting to organise for her burial.
"We are currently making arrangements and will share more details soon," he stated.
Mama Mildred was married to former AFC Leopards legend Noah Wanyama, and together they nurtured a sporting dynasty.
Apart from Victor and Mariga, she was also the mother of Thomas and Sylvester, both of whom pursued professional football careers.
Her daughter Mercy is a standout basketball talent who has flown the Kenyan flag high in international competitions.
Mildred was a devoted supporter of her sons and was often seen cheering them on from the sidelines during their matches.
