Former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has urged the young scholars to become architects of global change by using their talents to transform lives and pursue excellence in all they do.
Speaking at Brookhouse School’s 17th graduation ceremony at the Karen Campus, where 170 students graduated, Margaret Kenyatta said the students had been equipped not just for personal success but for meaningful contribution to the world.
"You have learned to leverage your talents, not just for personal success, but to build a better world by contributing your gifts and brilliant minds to the world,” she said.
In her keynote address, the former First Lady celebrated the Class of 2025’s accomplishments, highlighting that over 40 per cent of graduates had secured scholarships to prestigious global universities.
She painted a hopeful picture of the graduates' potential impact on society.
“I see a bold generation rising, one ready to question the status quo, reimagine the future, and confront injustices.
Your brilliance must drive innovation, experiment with new ideas, and help build the kinder world we so desperately need,” she said.
Margaret Kenyatta also lauded Brookhouse School’s holistic educational model, emphasising how it prepares students to tackle global challenges.
She pointed to the development of critical thinking, compassion, and respect for diversity through the school’s Round Square values.
She commended the graduates for their environmental conservation efforts at Oloolua Forest and their community service initiatives, citing them as evidence of readiness to engage with real-world problems.
“Go forth and shine. Wherever life takes you, let your light transform the world," she concluded.
The event was attended by proud parents, faculty members, and distinguished guests.
Among them was United Nations Office in Nairobi Director-General Zainab Bangura, who echoed Margaret Kenyatta’s sentiments.
“Be productive, there’s nothing you can’t do because Brookhouse has given you the foundation, the confidence and resilience,” Bangura told the graduates, urging them to pair academic excellence with a deep commitment to service.
Brookhouse School Director Mr. John O’Connor also addressed the graduates, reminding them of the power of choice and purpose in shaping their futures.
“You make the decisions and hopefully you find your purpose,” he said.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the 170 graduates, who now join Brookhouse’s distinguished alumni network, one known for producing leaders and changemakers committed to making a difference in an increasingly complex world.
