Police in Kakamega have arrested two individuals and recovered a stolen motorcycle following an early morning operation conducted in the Mudete area.

The Friday operation, carried out by officers from Kakamega and Mudete Police Stations, followed a report of a missing motorcycle.

According to police, the red Boxer motorcycle, registration number KMFQ 735P, was found hidden inside a rental house near Mudete Centre. It was positively identified by its owner upon recovery.

The two individuals found at the location were taken into custody as investigations continue. Police have not released their identities.

“They were arrested at the scene,” police said in a statement.

The suspects are expected to face charges related to theft and possession of suspected stolen property. The recovered motorcycle has been taken to Kakamega Police Station for further forensic analysis as part of ongoing inquiries.

The National Police Service (NPS) lauded the cooperation between the community and security agencies, urging members of the public to continue sharing timely information that can help prevent crime.

The Kakamega arrests come months after a separate incident in Nairobi, where police reportedly confronted three individuals during a robbery incident on Outering Road. Two of the individuals were fatally injured during the encounter.

Police said the group had been linked to incidents targeting pedestrians for valuables, including mobile phones and cash. Officers reportedly recovered two improvised firearms, one loaded with a bullet, and a mobile phone from the scene.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts across the country aimed at curbing crime and enhancing public safety.
