A group of activists have taken to leading protests on Nairobi streets on Thursday.

This is over the death of Albert Ojwang, who died in police custody.

"Comrades power!" they chanted, demanding the arrest of Deputy Inspector General Eliud Langat.

"Justice for Ojwang'. Mauwaji ya kijana, sote tuko tayari, " they sang.

Ojwang was arrested on June 7, 2025, in Homa Bay and driven over 350km to Central Police Station in Nairobi.

He was reported dead on June 8, 2025, when the police claimed he had hit his head on a wall.

Autopsy reports, however, showed that he died of assault comprising head injury, neck compression and other injuries all over his body.

Lagat has not commented on the matter.

Investigations into the death are ongoing.
