Kenya’s middle-distance sensation Emmanuel Wanyonyi  continued his meteoric rise on Thursday night, clinching the 800m title at the Oslo Diamond League with a commanding time of 1:42.77.

The 20-year-old displayed his trademark speed and composure to outrun a competitive field, further cementing his status as one of the world’s top athletes in the two-lap race.

Wanyonyi’s victory in Oslo adds yet another jewel to his glittering crown.

Already in 2024, he has been ranked world number one, with a personal best of 1:41.11 — the fastest time recorded globally this season.

He is the reigning Olympic champion from the Paris 2024 Games and a two-time Diamond League Final winner, having claimed the titles in 2022 and 2023.

Wanyonyi  has now won eight Diamond League meetings.

With the win in Oslo, Wanyonyi reaffirmed his position as the man to beat in the 800m.
