Mtwapa burglary: Judge's laptop with judgements stolen

Investigators found entry was gained by severing with sliding door locks.

The Mtwapa home of Lady Justice Agnes Kalekye Murgor, a Court of Appeal Judge, was targeted in a burglary incident on Monday, June 9.

An iPhone and a MacBook laptop were stolen from her Shariani Kuruwitu residence.

The incident was reported by Kemei, Justice Murgor's bodyguard, at 5:55 pm on June 9, 2025.

He received a call from the Justice informing him of the burglary.

Investigators found entry was gained by "severing with sliding door locks."

Burglars accessed the lounge and master bedroom. The stolen MacBook "contained judgments and court proceedings."

Two other bedrooms were ransacked, but nothing else was taken from Justice Murgor's house.

The burglars then proceeded to nearby House Number 2, belonging to Ann Martin.

They entered through a balcony sliding door. Binoculars were stolen, and "packets of milk" were consumed.

Attempts were also made at House Number 5, owned by Kip Martin, and House Number 6, belonging to Angela Kangethe.

Access was gained via the balcony at House Number 5, but nothing was stolen. Footprints were observed on the verandah at House Number 6, but entry was not made.

Three guards on duty that night were arrested. The tree are assisting with investigations.

The DCI Kilifi South is handling the ongoing case.

In another unrelated incident, a significant maize plantation in Kapseret Sub-County suffered extensive malicious damage.

Approximately ten acres of maize crops were destroyed overnight using pangas. The incident occurred at Chesire Farm in the Airport Area.

The destruction took place between the night of June 8 and June 9, 2025. The exact time remains unknown.

Chesire Farm is located about seven kilometers east of Kiambaa Police Station.

The land belongs to Timothy Chesire. It was leased to Jacob Keter, Edward Tuwei, Solomon Kirwa, Robert Kemboi, and others.

The persons responsible for the damage are currently unknown. The estimated value of the destroyed crops has not yet been determined.

Police officers from Kiambaa Police Station visited and documented the scene. Investigations into the incident are ongoing. Kiambaa Police Station is handling the matter.
